Robert Zahra (b. 1977) spends his time between teaching Art and studio practice. He is interested in both of these practices as he views the two fields as ongoing adventurous, experimental processes. Robert studied Art Education at Masters level at the University of Malta and painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan. His works consists mainly of drawings and paintings but he also uses photography as an investigative tool. His personal artistic projects got him involved with subjects such as the urban environment and the human body. Robert participated in a number of collective exhibitions in Malta and in Italy. In 2007 and 2011 he participated in Bodies, a series of collective exhibitions about the human body. In 2009 he presented his series of Urban Landscapes in Mkejjen, a solo exhibition at St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta. In 2006, he was awarded a Second Prize when participating at the Salon 1 – 2006 Giovani Artisti dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
